The French Court of Appeal decides not to release Josu Urrutikoetxea from Spain

Courts approve probation in fifth
Yesterday, 1 July, the defense lawyers of Urrutikoetxea, Laure Heinich and Lauren Pasquet-Marinacce, have used their age of 69 years and the delicate state of health as arguments to demand parole. Josu Urrutikoetxea was arrested in May 2019 in the French Alps, and has since remained in La Santa prison. The Court of Appeal decided in June of that same year to release the Basque political prisoner with judicial control, but it was not released by the Euroorders requested by the Spanish Government. Since then, the courts have denied on four occasions the defence ' s request for parole. At the risk of coronavirus, La Santa's chief physician requested the suspension of the prison, which was also neglected.
France rejects Spain's request for a Euroorder
Since October 2015, Spain has prosecuted Urrutikoetxea for "a crime against humanity" in the 2006 Barajas attack, considered as head of the ETA political apparatus between 2005 and 2007 and has therefore called for a Euroorder. At yesterday ' s sitting, the Court of Appeal rejected this arrest warrant on technical grounds.
France holds two trials at Urrutikoetxea
In one trial he accuses him of being a member of ETA’s management and in another he accuses him of being a member of ETA’s delegation to the dialogue table between 2011 and 2013.
