A casual worker has died in the Murcian municipality of Lorca (Spanish State) as a result of working in a farm during a heat wave. The 42-year-old man from Nicaragua was abandoned on Saturday because of the heat in a health center due to the poor state. As a result, the Civil Guard has arrested the owner of the holding, who has been charged for a crime against the rights of workers.
The event took place in the El Esparragal district of Puerto Lumbreras. The Murcia Region Emergency Coordination Center received a call last Saturday, about 15:37 hours. The respondent requested a Mobile Emergency Unit to treat a man who had been admitted to the Emergency Service of the Lorca-Sutullenhealth Center.
According to the call, a van circulating in the area left the man unconscious, who could not be transferred to any hospital. The Mobile Emergency Health Unit went to the site but could do nothing to save the worker's life. Finally, the agents called the National Police and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, upon verifying that they were a rural worker.
