Bertsolari Jon Lopategi (Muxika, 1934-2019) died yesterday, Thursday, in a traffic accident. In 1958 he made his first place in Gernika and since then he has spent 50 years in the plaza. He and Jon Azpilwaukee pioneered the contribution of social issues to Bertsolarism. In the championships of the 1960s it has been sung at the end of the Basque Country and also on days 82, 86 and 89. In 1989, Lopategi won the txapela. He was also Bizkaia champion three times.
Great broadcast work
Jon Lopategi has also done a great deal of work on the broadcast since the 1980s. He was a professor of bertsolarism and an impeller of several bertsolaris schools.
