If the game and the relationships are prohibited for what the ikastolas are open for?
- From 12 May we opened the ikastolas. Coinciding with the reflection of the directors of the colleges of SEASKA, we, as teachers and collaborators of the first level, want to make our reflection public.
The State has decided to open the schools, but is not prepared to bear their consequences. He has therefore taken responsibility for the direction and teachers of the school. For the opening of classes, it will be the responsibility of the teachers to apply the health protocol, which the State washes its hands. The draft protocol consists of 63 pages and, as is known, the implementation of such protocols requires years and resources in any work center. In our case, however, they give a week of time to teachers and parents, and without taking into account that in the application of this health protocol there are also boys and girls; without giving any guarantee to their well-being and life, the conditions and safety of workers.
Some examples extracted from the protocol: Children cannot share toys, paintings or books, we must ensure a distance of one meter between them, they cannot touch or play together, we must remove balls or bicycles, avoid interactions between children... If they cannot play with their friends, if they cannot relate, if the material must be removed, the limited space… Under what pedagogical and human conditions will the children be from two to eleven years old?
The teaching staff will have half of the students in the ikastola and the rest at home, will we have classroom work and telework at the same time? But also, and above all, we must ensure that children have a meter away from each other, that they do not exchange objects, that they touch each other, that they wash their hands in the dozens of moments marked by the protocol, that the spaces and objects are disinfected, that one in every two toilets is not used, that parents are not stacked at the entrance of the ikastola… Therefore, our job will be to give master classes.
We cannot guarantee the protocol, because the material and personal resources are scarce. However, some of the requirements detailed here cannot be accepted, as the Ikastola would become a prison or military barracks.
At ikastolas, students, families, collaborators and teachers we live part of life with snow, we relate, learn, develop… and play… If the game and relationships are prohibited, why do we open ikastolas?
