The union has emphasized that one of the highest rates of concerted centers in Europe is the Basque educational system and, according to several studies in recent days, it is the one that most segregates students by origin in the Spanish State.

Using “tools, tricks or mechanisms,” they “put red carpet on private school.” For example, according to the union, “it has become common for private centers to plan more classrooms than those authorized by the administration at one stage and to conclude agreements from the management of the centers in Lakua outside the legal framework. This means accepting the enrollment of more students than the authorized ones. All this with the approval of the educational administration. There are dozens of cases in the CAV that claim that this is happening, and STEILAS has sued one of them.”

“Starting from the freedom of choice of the school for parents,” he states that the privatization process begins in Early Childhood Education. “In many cases, as long as there are vacant places in the public haurreskola of the neighborhood, of the town... public subsidies are granted to the private school next door, duplicating the service, increasing and generating unnecessary excess”.
