This project has lasted 15 years (1999-2014) and involved 19,899 volunteers, 12,133 women and 7,786 men, among others. The results show that the risk of death of those who eat four parts of ultra-processed food daily increases by 62% and must be added by 18% more for each serving added.
Ultra-processed foods are those produced with refined and synthesized ingredients, have neither a complete component nor an appreciable nutritional quality. However, they are attractive to the consumer for not asking for preparation, for their consumer comfort and for their great taste.
