Some 69,000 people have gathered this Saturday in the Paris Republic Square during the Yellow Yacarés protests. There was demonstrator Jerome Rodrigues, who lost his right eye by being hit by a rubber ball launched by the French police. A dozen people have been injured in the eleventh weekend of the mobilizations.
Researchers at the UPV/EHU are already analyzing the event. Rodrigues stressed that he was "hit with a rubber ball on his head" during the match. The French police, for its part, indicated that the injury was caused by a grenade which was shot to control agglomerations. The injured lawyer, Philippe de Veull, has "roundly" denied the version of the police in which he was travelling.
De Veull added that Rodrigues would be "disabled for life" and criticized the use of "voluntary violence by public authorities".
In statements to LCI, Rodrigues said that “I will file a complaint against Macron, Castaner and the police officer who shot the rubber ball and will continue to show me peacefully.”
