Gaztetxe members Itzubaltzeta III explained that yesterday, Thursday, the head of the Getxo Municipal Police approached them with the intention of evicting the building "under the excuse of Covid-19". According to the note sent by the municipal officials, young people will have to vacate the building occupied before 12:00 a.m. today, Friday, in Bilbao. Faced with this situation, young people have explained that all scheduled activities have been suspended and gaztetxe has been closed, in line with the measures taken by the Department of Health. However, they note that they do not accept the decision of the City Hall: "City officials have said they do not know what is being said about an eviction being carried out. They continue with the strategy of leaving us as a motto. The people of Romo do not accept their pressures."
All municipal buildings in Getxo have been closed today [except municipal sports, which can be used by yourself, as reported by the City Hall] following the instructions of the Department of Health of the Basque Government to deal with the coronavirus crisis. Therefore, municipal officials consider that the building occupied as gaztetxe should also be evicted because it can be a "polluting focus". For his part, EH councilor Bildu, Ibon Rodríguez, has assured from social networks that the City of Getxo will have the support and help of his group to take the necessary measures to deal with the coronavirus. He stressed, however, that the Abertzale coalition will under no circumstances support the use of a health crisis as an excuse to evict a gaztetxe.
