Following the protests of the employers, the Government has given a total of 72 hours for the closure of factories and other activities to be effective and, for example, for the distribution of production already carried out. The decree will allow some 80 areas to remain open and, as explained by the Minister for Economic Development, Stefano Pattuanelli, about 35% of production activities in Italy are concentrated in the interior.
However, the list of open companies remains too long for trade unions, and the main acronyms, CGIL, CISL and UIL, announced their readiness to call a general strike on companies that do not meet the safety parameters.
