Although the truce between Israel and HAMAS is already agreed, Israel rejects the vote on the agreement
Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Hamas of creating "a last-minute crisis," but the latter has denied the information immediately. As agreed on the afternoon of 15 January, the menu consists of three phases and will begin on Sunday. However, Israel continues with the attacks of the Twenty-seven and has killed 73 Palestinians since the peace agreement in Gaza.
The Israeli Security Cabinet has postponed the vote on the agreement reached between HAMAS and Israel, which has rejected the proposal. The Zionists accuse HAMAS of creating "a last-minute crisis", considering that it has tried to change some points that had already been agreed. They state that they will not sign the text until HAMAS certifies that it has accepted all the points of the agreement. This information has been denied by Izzat el-Reshiq, one of the representatives of HAMAS, who has reiterated his adherence to the agreement.
On 15 January in the afternoon the news that had been expected since the beginning of the week has arrived: The HAMAS organization and the Israeli Government have reached a cease-fire agreement in Gaza. The information has been confirmed by the Prime Minister of Qatar, Xeikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, according to government sources. However, the Israeli Army continues with the violent attacks: It has killed 73 Palestinians since the cease-fire was agreed in Gaza.
Despite the mistrust that has arisen, the Palestinians have taken to the streets to celebrate the ceasefire. In Israel there is a great divide between the citizens: hundreds of Israelis are demonstrating to denounce the agreement, but the relatives of the hostages have applauded the agreement, despite the mistrust they have placed on them.
Both US President Joe Biden and US President Donald Trump, who will take office next Monday, have immediately announced the truce. They both feel at the basis of the agreement being reached. In general, what is clear is that the United States has an important role, both in the truce and in the genocide it has had so far. The agreement proposed by Joe Biden on 31 May is very similar to the one adopted on 15 January last.
Truce, three phases
Although the agreement is not fully public, the truce between Israel and HAMAS would, according to sources nearby, have three phases in 42 days.
In the first phase, Hamas will release 33 Israeli hostages – women, children, the elderly, beaten up or sick. For its part, Israel has decided to release 30 Palestinian prisoners for each civilian hostage, and 50 for each military hostage. In total, Israel would have to release almost a thousand prisoners, be they under 19 years of age or women, imprisoned since 7 October 2023.
The Israeli army will leave "populated areas", including the Netzarim walkway, which divides Gaza into two, and those who have had to leave their homes will be able to return. However, on the border with Israel, from South Rafah to North Beit Grande, the Israeli army will be present in a protection zone of 800 metres wide. It has also been agreed to allow humanitarian aid to enter, with 600 trucks a day, 50 of them with fuel.
If the first phase "goes well", the negotiations on the second and third phase should start on day 16, and end by week 5 at the latest. The second phase would be a "total outcome of war", according to the armed organization. It would also involve the eviction of all Israeli army troops and the release of all living hostages.
In the third and final phase, they must maintain the total suspension of hostilities. A plan for the reconstruction of Gaza will begin, in which Egypt, Qatar and the UN would deal with liaison work. For its part, Hamas will hand over to Israel the bodies of the dead prisoners, while Israel will hand over to HAMAS the bodies of the dead Palestinian gudaris.
Non-conformity
In the negotiations, the United States, Qatar and Egypt have mediated and also taken care of the further progress of the EU. Despite this, there are significant differences between the two sides: Israel does not accept the complete cessation of the Israeli Army, nor does the Gaza Government remain in the hands of HAMAS or the Palestinian National Authority.
