The Zionist Army has once again attacked the Al-Mawasi camp in the Khan Younis area in southern Gaza. The aggression has taken place in the early hours of Tuesday, shortly after midnight this Tuesday. At least four bombs have been dropped, and many Palestinians who had taken refuge in the camp have been buried under the sand. Several sources have recorded 40 deaths and medical services in the Gaza Strip have reported that they have managed to recover nineteen of the bodies.

However, it is expected that there will be more deaths in the earthquake than today. Satellite images of 5 September of Al Jazeera have revealed the presence of over 60 shops in the area hit by the Zionists and left a large crater. The number of people trapped is unknown, but al-Mawasi is the most populated area in the Gaza Strip, and several media outlets have reported that many families share shops such as housing. The Palestinian authorities have reported about a hundred people injured and dozens killed in the bombing, which Israel has described as a "highly accurate attack".

The Israeli Army has assured that it had the HAMAS militants in the spotlight, but HAMAS has said it is "a clear lie" and denied the presence of members of Shia groups in the area. Israel has been subjected to a storm of criticism for attacking the camp in which it travelled. The UN and several human rights organisations have denounced the persecution of civilians and accused him of provoking "collective punishment" which, according to international law, is a war crime.

Fifth major attack on al-Mawasi

It is not the first time that Israel has bombed the al-Mawasi area, as it has suffered four other major attacks since last October. The most brutal attack on the camp occurred in July, when a "safe area" was also declared for tourists. At least 90 people died and more than 300 were injured in a double bomb attack in Istanbul. The Israeli Army also stated on that occasion that the objective was an important leader of Hamas.

Israel has forced 90 per cent of the population of Gaza to be displaced through attacks and evacuation orders. Al-Mawasi camp is one of the few " safe " areas, as Zionists have ordered 86 per cent of Gaza ' s land to be evacuated. Only 50 kilometres are excluded from the ban, for a population of more than two million inhabitants.

Although there is no clear evidence, according to Al Yazira, about half of the population of Gaza is sheltered in al-Mawasi camp. Most of them live in fabric stores, without basic facilities or services, the UN has warned on several occasions. Limiting access to humanitarian aid has led hundreds of thousands of people to survive in the camp without water, food and cleaning and sanitation products. The queues to get water, or to be able to go to the bathroom, are usually several hours, as explained by Al Jazeera in a statement.

Since the declaration of a "humanitarian zone" in November, Israel has been the subject of many criticisms by the Palestinians. The head of the World Health Organization called the al-Mawasi camp “recipe for destruction.”
