This year 2023 has today left the second occupational death by accident in Euskal Herria and the first in Nafarroa Garaia. The 58-year-old worker A.A., who lives in Irurtzun, dies this morning when she comes to her job in the Commonwealth of the District of Pamplona (SCPSA).
The LAB union reports that the working class in Navarre has one of the highest accident rates in the state. "In addition, as we have denounced, accidents in itinere break all brands in Navarre: they are 50% of all occupational deaths," he adds.
LAB says these workplace accidents can be avoided. "There is a clear and serious risk of a worker going to work on a motorcycle, at 06:30 in the morning, in the dark, in the fog and at 2 °C over 20 kilometers," says the Abertzale union.
"In recent months we have denounced to the Government of Navarra that companies do not take any measures to control this risk that is legally considered to be occupational risk, and we have made proposals for the integration of employers. But none of our proposals have been answered," they say.
They urge the Txibites Government to include in its Risk Assessments the specific mobility risks of each worker and to take the necessary measures to minimise risks in itinere.
