Neighbours have recalled that Plaiaundi is a Special Bird Protection Area: “It is the only one in Gipuzkoa and is a very special space in the migratory processes carried out by protected birds from the western end of the Pyrenees.” In this sense, they have explained that trees also help.

Instead of cutting the trees stabilize

The association Amigos de Artia says that other measures can be taken without damaging the environment, such as the correct pruning of trees (“what has not been done so far”) and the way to stabilize them to prevent the wind from melting them.
