The City Council of Pamplona has allocated most of its money to expenditure on accommodation, pension schemes and hostels. Councillor of Urbanism, Housing and Agenda 2030, Joxe Abaurrea, has highlighted the economic and resource efforts that have been made in recent months.
The City’s ability to accommodate more citizens is reaching the limit, so “the solution to help people in vulnerable situations must come from the common institutional solidarity strategy,” said Abaurrea. “Resources are limited and we must be aware of that. The phenomenon of evictions is not only the responsibility of the City of Pamplona, it is more global. We have multiplied our efforts and have to work with the other institutions in the coming months and years to find a solution between all and all.”
The City Council of Pamplona/Iruña has registered 1,524 replacements, rising to 2,200 at the end of the year. So far 6,000 overnight stays have been enabled. Among the innovations, there is the beginning of the rehabilitation of municipal housing to accommodate vulnerable families and/or the training program for the improvement of autonomy, with the formation of a group of young migrants without papers.
