The Mayor of Pamplona, Enrique Maya, has removed a shield from the 16th century and will display the emblem of the Bourbons at the City Hall door, according to the media Naiz.eus. This historic shield of Pamplona was placed by the mayor of EH Bildu, Joseba Asiron. The spokesman for the parliamentary group at the City Council of Pamplona/Iruña, Josu Urrutia, said that "it will block the history of Pamplona with the symbol of a dynasty".
For its part, EH Bildu has asked Maya to appear in the Basque Parliament to give an explanation of this change. The network portal Change.org has just begun a collection of signatures for the Mayor of Pamplona to reject the decision: by the early morning of Monday, more than 4,200 signatures had been collected.
