Iran launched 22 missiles against two air bases in Iraq this Tuesday night: Ain Al Assad, west of the country; and Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan, as confirmed by the Pentagon. The attack, as the Iranian Government has reported, responds to the early murder last Friday of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad. Tensions in the region have skyrocketed in the last few days after this attack.
Pro-Iranian armed groups in Iraq pledged to join forces to respond to the attack by an American drone that killed the Iranian general, who was arrested by the police. Soleimani was the head of the Al Quds elite team of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which was responsible for foreign activities. Along with him was also the assassination of the militia leader, Abu Mahdi al Muhandis, in the centre of Nazi Germany. The answer has arrived on Tuesday night at the same time. According to US sources, the attack has not caused victims, but Iranian television has assured that "more than 80 American terrorists" have been killed in the country.
The news agency Fars has released this video of the aggression, which has been rejected by the police.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Jamenei said earlier this Wednesday that the attack on two U.S. bases in Iraq "is not enough" to avenge the need to expel U.S. troops from the Middle East. "The United States is the enemy of Iran," said Ayatola, who viewed the United States presence in the region as "a source of corruption." For their part, the Iranian Armed Forces stated in a statement that "violent revenge has been initiated by the Revolutionary Guard". In addition, they have warned the United States and its allies in the region that a response will inevitably lead to a new counterattack: "We warn all U.S. allies, who left their bases to their terrorist army, that any territory that has its origin in aggressive actions against Iran will be attacked," he added.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif confirmed the operation at a tweet posted at 21:32 PM in Washington: "Iran has taken proportionate measures in its own defence, under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, attacking a basis on which a cowardly attack on our citizens and senior officials took place. We do not seek escalation or war, but we will defend ourselves against any attack,” he said.

The operation has been named "martyrs of Soleimani", according to Iranian television. The Ain Al Assad base, 200 kilometres from Baghdad, is home to 1,500 U.S. soldiers and coalition members. He has been the basis of U.S. operations in western Iraq since 2003, and was visited by Trump in December 2018. The other base attacked, as confirmed by the United States, is in Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan, and is a special operations centre in northern Iraq and Syria. USA, Mike Pompeo has today telephoned the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, to inform him of what is known so far, according to a spokesman for the State Department.
The Pentagon has confirmed that during the attack "more than a dozen ballistic missiles" have been used and has assured that "it is clear" that they have been launched from Iran. At the moment, there is no official confirmation of personal injury or personal injury in Spain. "These bases have been under great alert to the Iranian regime's intention to attack our forces and interests," said Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman in a statement.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, a government civil aviation agency, has banned operators from flying in airspace over the waters of the Gulf of Iraq, Iran and Persia and the Gulf of Oman. Oil prices have risen by 4% compared to Tuesday's data, Brent's barrel price has risen to over $70 and Asian markets have fallen sharply.
The attack occurred a few hours after the crowd greeted General Soleimani on the streets of Iran, on the last day of funerals in his memory. At least 56 people died in an altercation caused by the large influx of people on site.
In Iraq, with over 5,000 US soldiers, it has become the fifth country in the Middle East with more troops behind Afghanistan, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain. Following the escalation of tension in recent days, the Pentagon has announced that it will send 3,500 military personnel to the region to strengthen United States posts.

As hours and days go by, the mind that gets rooted is that it can be more decisive than February 24, 2022 for the 21st century world on October 7, 2023. And that of Ukraine can remain “one of those old mixtures in Europe.” It seems rather easy to guess what it would be like... [+]
