Evelyn, 30 years; Teresa, 40 years; Mirna, 12 years; Carmen, 25 years; Teresa, 40 years; Maira, 15 years; Marina, 35 years; Teodora, Alba, Cinthia, María, Verónica, Yoana, Miriam, Salvadora, Guadalupe, Maritza… 30 years.
These are some of the names of the collective Las17yMore, women from El Salvador who have prison sentences. You are sentenced to between 12 and 40 years for out-of-hospital births. All of them are women with scarce resources, attacked by the sexual and systemic violence of the heteropatriarchal state. They are accused of aborting and going to the hospital for obstetric emergency reasons. Weak and very sick, they wake up among the police, surrounded by bad words and unpleasant questionnaires, with their hands tied and criminalized as murderers. Trial and conviction.
El Salvador is one of the countries that punishes abortion absolutely and, as in other countries, it is the same if it is pregnant, if it is a child or a child, if its health or death is at stake, if it has suffered an unwanted abortion due to inadequate conditions, if the fetus has malformations… What is valued is the “life” of that unborn fetus, denying all the rights and possibilities of living the life of the person. Today, more than 17 women have been violated.
It was July 2017 when we went to El Salvador, and then he met us and touched us all this story. We live in the case of Evelyn, prison, trials, her story. In Evely he was condemned for justice in’a before us. Sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of his son at the hands of his partners. He had been in prison for one year. Evelyn was then a 19-year-old who was raped. The man/s is free, has been robbed of liberty and violated human rights.
Thanks to the work of feminist associations, in August 2019 he was on Evelyn Street, but the prosecutor’s office has not taken long to appeal and his freedom is back in the hands of the judges.
Imelda has also been heard in this part of the Atlantic, a young woman who has suffered sexual violence since the age of 12 of her stepfather, 70. Imelda suffered an obstetric emergency in 2017 and lost consciousness after an out-of-hospital delivery. At the hospital, they reported having performed the abortion, but in this case the child survived. Imelda, who has already been in prison for two years at the age of 20, initially served 20 years in prison, until he was released on the charge of serious homicide.
Marina, 11 years; Kenya, 6 years; Sara, 7 years; Glenda, 7 years; Karen, 2 years; Ana, 6 years; Elsy, 7 years; Jackeline, 7 years; Liliana, 3 years; Silvia, 6 years; Maritza, 11 years; Cindy, 4 years; María del Rosario, 9 years.
These are the names of the women who are still in prison in El Salvador and their remaining years to serve their sentences. We cannot tolerate the continued violation and criminalisation of the rights of people with children and women from any country. So today, tomorrow and every day, we ask for justice. While the heteropatriarchal imposition of the State and the Church violates our rights and rob our lives, the feminist movement and the association for the decriminalization of abortion in El Salvador (Citizen Group for the Decriminalization of Abortion in El Salvador) have worked and fought in Evelyn, Imelda, Teodora, Veronica, Maira and other days. There's the force, and they move forward, and we go with them. That is why today, tomorrow and every day we will continue to join forces in the feminist movement in El Salvador, Latin America and the whole world, until we achieve the freedom of all and all.

In recent years, I have made little progress. I have said it many times, I know, but just in case. Today I attended a bertsos session. “I wish you a lot.” Yes, that is why I have warned that I leave little, I assume that you are attending many cultural events, and that you... [+]

They're one of the most beautiful memories I have in my heart. At the time I was doing Basque Philology and we went to a society in Arbizu to a concert by Ruper Ordorika. There were Rikardo Arrangi Diaz of Heredia and Juanjo Olasgrip. I didn't dare to tell Arrangi that I had in my... [+]

Many times, after looking at the brumas from my house, it has occurred to me not to catch umbrellas, even though I know I will just soak up. Why will it be? Maybe you don't want to catch the umbrella? Maybe in the hope that I don't get wet? Nevertheless, the conclusion has always... [+]
I remember when I was 16 years old, the Ertzaintza first identified me in a concentration in favor of the Basque Country before the Bergara courts. We believed that in Euskal Herria it was legitimate to cry for the Euskaldunization of the courts, but then there would also be a... [+]
