(In)Before the patriarchal justice system, Nekane, we believe you!
- So far, the road has not been easy for Nekane Txapartegi, who has done a great job. Sentenced to 11 years ' imprisonment for tortured testimonies in 2007 in connection with the trial of summary 18/98. Thus, he was forced to leave the Basque Country, although he was arrested in 2016 by order of euro and on request for extradition.
This case, in Switzerland itself, led to a brutal wave of support and solidarity networks. Through the #FreeNekane platform, driven both by the feminist movement and by the different women, this movement became an international campaign, which in 2017 brought down the condemnation of Nekane Txapartegi and its subsequent release.
Today, Nekane continues to work both in the social movements on the left and in the feminist movement. Besides being responsible for the women's area of Lora Irratia, she has been one of the promoters of the feminist space F.I.S.T., formed by women from Switzerland, migrants and feminist political refugees.
Today, Nekane is back in danger! Once again, he is forced to see his freedom and his life in danger. He has been summoned to testify in Switzerland under the command of the National Hearing and with the help of the Swiss Government for another case which has just been opened in the Spanish State. Once again, a clear example of political persecution and that patriarchal justice continues to protect Sexist torture. It cannot be forgotten that Nekane has strongly denounced sexist torture and the patriarchal and sexist character of the prison.
Nekane is in danger again!
Once again, he is forced to see his freedom and his life in danger.
Sexist torture is yet another manifestation of violence towards women, which directly affects their physical and psychological integrity. In the case of women, there have been more threats of sexual assault during periods of incommunication, naked polls, touching, rape, psychological torture, insults, etc. All of them are expressions of violence aimed at perpetuating and reinforcing the sexual discrimination that is the basis of patriarchy. Moreover, for years it has been a situation of violence protected by the State.
Therefore, from Euskal Herriko Bilgune Feminist we want to claim aloud that this is not our peace. (In)Now that we have developed patriarchal justice, also from the Feminist Movement of Euskal Herria, we will continue to take steps towards peace and conflict resolution, reflecting on the penitentiary system, redefining the penal system, building feminist justice against (in)patriarchal justice; and above all, healing, repairing, recognizing pain and wounds. Do not hesitate, we believe it to you.
