Representatives of the Feminist Movement of the Basque Country have appeared before the courts of Donostia-San Sebastian, "fed up" with the decisions of the judicial system. In it, the protests that have been organized for November 25 in the capitals of Euskal Herria have been announced, and the motto of the calls indicates that in them the claim against the patriarchal character of justice will prevail. The protests will start on Sunday in Bilbao, Donostia-San Sebastián, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Pamplona/Iruña and Baiona with the motto “Above patriarchal injustice, weaving feminist networks!”.
“Justice supposedly supports us and opposes male violence, but it is actually heteropatriarchal and based on a violent, oppressive and exclusionary logic,” they denounced at the hearing. However, they have not been confined to the area of justice, as the institutions in general have been questioned. They have stressed that the minute speeches and silences they use in the face of male violence have no effect and that although they say that the responsibility to oppose male violence is shared by all, they do not provide a solution and leave women alone.
On the other hand, they have taken advantage of the hearing to join the struggles of all women and to join the striking cleaners: “We want to show our support to all the organized women who are engaged in labor struggles, especially the service sector.”
