Claims against male violence have been screamed out loud this Saturday, International Day against Male Violence. The Feminist Movement of the Basque Country has filled the streets to the neck Lives without violence! Live, free and organized in mobilizations under the motto. They have focused on the strike of 30 November and have called to participate in the protests and demonstrations.
Long live the feminist struggle; the streets, the nights, are ours; no aggression, no response; and with similar demands, as Berria has gathered. They call for “ending all the edges” of the violence and claim “lives without male violence.” They also denounce the “weak situation” of migrant and racialized women and call for the recognition of Palestinian women in the manifestos read: “We feminists have always defended life, memory and future, and we also defend their right to fight for the sovereignty and justice of peoples.”
Itaia calls to build socialism
The Socialist Organization of Women Itaia has also gathered hundreds of people in the mobilizations of Euskal Herria under the motto Constructing socialism to combat male violence. In order to combat and end male violence, they have called for a further year for the “construction of socialism” and have called to organize themselves “outside the farce of institutional policies” and “to build a new social model that makes possible the emancipation of working women”.
Call for a strike
Both commend the General Feminist Strike on November 30. The Feminist Movement has denounced that the current care system is “the axis of violence” and has defended the collective right to care. For this purpose, the most effective tools are “building alliances” and “feminist self-defense”. He calls to participate in the mobilizations called on the 30th.
Itaia, for its part, claims equality of working and living conditions for all, “guaranteeing equal pay for all” and “socializing care”. From Itaia it has also called to mobilize to “live all the same opportunities” in the four capitals of Hego Euskal Herria.
