Born in Oñati in 1931, he entered the Society of Jesus at the age of 17 and then studied communication in Italy, specializing in audiovisual. Back to Euskal Herria, in 1966 he founded Loiolako Herri Irratia in the shrine, along with Juan Lekuona, and became director of it. In 1982 he moved to Eusko Irratia, where he also served as Director-General, from the start of public radio in Basque until 1985. One of its objectives was that Euskera should have a place in the media.
In 1986 he moved to the Vatican and was head of international news for the Vatican Radio. He received the Onda and Rikardo Arrangi awards for his career.
In 2010 he published an autobiography with Alberdania: And now, what? Our years (1931-2009).
