Militating 'Imagine 10% of the people'…
Chance has brought this reflection together to put a finger in the eyes with the song Imagine, by John Lennon and Yoko ONO, on its 50th anniversary.
I will propose a much humbler and closer version of the dreamworld depicted in the song.
Don't forget all the people. We will only stay with 10% of the adult population of our people. I am convinced that in our society, more than 10% are considered left-wing. Well, maybe we're a majority, because many of the ruthless who vote for the Basque bourgeoisie see theirs as left-wing. But we're going to stay with 10 percent of our society. One in 10 people in our environment. In Euskal Herria about 260,000 people, in Vitoria-Gasteiz about 21,000.

Imagine 10% of the people gives an hour a week to the militancy. We know that militancy is not something that is measured in hours, but an attitude towards life (You may say I'm a dreamer). Let's call it militancy, activism or work to change reality to the left. And it is not a matter of taking that time away from commuting, care work, physiological obligations, personal relationships, or work (which in most cases is time dedicated to the capitalists; but we will leave the surplus value for another margin of opinion…).Imagine 10% of the people dedicates 10% of their leisure time to the construction of another society: participating in collective activities, organizing, making proposals in the union
Imagine 10% of the people dedicate 10% of their time to terraces, bars or television in collective activities. In assemblies, in popular construction, in collaboration with others, in the development of ideas, in mobilizations, trying to dream of another society and carry it out with small daily steps.
You may say I'm a dreamer and many people don't have free time or 10% free time. So imagine 10% of the people spend 10% of the money they spend on slots on a cause. And, what to say!, that it is spent on absolutely essential things, not on consumption, but on pure consumerism in which we all move more or less, increasing the profits of capitalist companies. Imagine 10% of the people spend 10% of the money on an initiative or by financing an agent, an association, an organization or, for example, an alternative means of communication.
It's not about making a revolution, where you have to give "something" more than 10 percent. But, in spite of everything, how would we be if 10% of those who consider themselves left-wing devote time, work, money…?
Yes, the objective of this reflection is to generate discomfort and reaction in those who stay away, even if it is only 10% of them.
You may say I'm a dreamer. But can you imagine?
