“Despite our willingness to continue the negotiations, we have received no response from either the Vice-Rectorate of the UPV/EHU or the Decanato of the Faculty of Education, Philosophy and Anthropology,” says the UIB. To denounce it, on March 29 they mobilized, and seeing that the situation has not changed, “the passive attitude of the UPV/EHU and the need for organizational infrastructure have forced us to re-enter a space”.
The Student Council of this Faculty has joined the petition, unanimously by all its members.
Violation of a right
Students say the university violates their right to partnership and political action. On this occasion, they have also written a letter that has meant “legal argumentation within the framework of the laws”. “In it we clearly see our right to have a space, but even though it is legally this way, seeing that the right is not fulfilled, we have decided to occupy the space”.
Background
On February 22nd they occupied the Zorroaga Room of the Faculty of Education, Philosophy and Anthropology of San Sebastian, with the same claim. Its aim was to push for negotiation, but “the UPV/EHU did not make concrete proposals or offer us guarantees for a space”. On that occasion, 80 Ertzainas evicted the students, identifying 35 of them.
