A gypsy family, three women and a minor, report harassment and racism in the Primor perfumery of Avenida Carlos III in Pamplona. They make it public to make visible the discrimination suffered by the Roma. On Thursday, the Gypsy association Gaz Kalo and SOS Racism protested at the store, and the women said that on August 17 they followed Primor's security guard since they entered the store, and that's why they had a clash.
“We feel bullied and ashamed. We asked him (the watchman) why he only did it to us, to see if he did it because we were gypsies. The answer was that his job was that. After discussing with him, because we didn’t see what he was doing as normal, he left and we did the shopping.” He explained that when they paid and left the street, two agents waited for them and asked for identification. From the Primor store they called the agents to report a robbery, according to the Euskalerria broadcast. The women taught them the purchase, but reported that they had been explored: “We were logged into a portal as if we were criminals.” They criticize that they were explored in the street and in front of many people, and “make them pass the most shame they can pass.”
SOS Racism has denounced the coexistence programme of the Municipal Police of Pamplona. Flavia Navarrete, a member of the association, denounced in his statements Ahotsa.info that it was a “great violation of rights” that is common against the Roma. This is the issue that June Fernández addressed in this ARGIA report: Shopping is a nightmare for Roma women.
The images of the meeting have been collected in the following video Ahotsa.info:
