On the day of the referendum in Catalonia, there were numerous assaults by the Spanish armed forces. One of them was carried out by the National Police at the Ramón Llull school in Barcelona, in Madrid. Several rubber balls were thrown and one of them gave in the eye of citizen Roger Español, who was arrested.
“They have tried so that we do not know who the shot was, but we have achieved it thanks to many collective works,” said the Iridia centre, which works in the defence of human and civil and political rights.
Attorney Anaïs Franquesa explained at a press conference that the identification was based on the analysis of recorded images. An independent criminologist expert hired by the center has been studying the images for a year.
“If repression doesn’t stop, we don’t.”
At the same press conference, Roger Español has shown his complete readiness to complete the judicial process: “If repression doesn’t stop, we don’t stop either.”
Iridia’s lawyers, for their part, have asked the court to testify as an investigator to one of the operational police chiefs. Two other shots were fired by the police after the Spanish attack, which was stopped. When the injured person was on the ground, the shots were fired in the immediate vicinity, while several journalists were watching him.
