One of the few companies in the industrial estate La Dehesa de Valdegovía has closed its doors. The Oven de Tuesta bakery, which employed 59 workers, mostly women, had been on the street for a week. Dulca, from Salamanca, owns the furnace in Valdegovía, and has already presented the regulation dossier to lay off the entire staff.
Agustín Plaza, of the UGT trade union, explained that closure is a "serious blow" for workers, as most are about 50 years old and are also women. "The institutions are making very nice speeches saying that they are working to reduce female unemployment, but in this case they have not been involved too much", said Plaza, in addition, the workers of the Oven de Tuesta plant have recently approved various cuts to ensure the company's viability. "Salaries have been reduced by 10% and salaries for the last two months have not been paid," he added.
Ibercake-Dulca bought Tuesta's pastry shop from Panrico in 2007, but in 2016 he presented the Tuesta.En 2017 Serna-García brothers, belonging to Dulca, took over the factories of Tuesta Furnace and Almansa Furnace (Albacete, Spain).
