In the spring of 2021, a long camp was conducted against the Baztan Aroztegia project, among others, with sit-ins before the machines that wanted to carry out the works. We count it in detail in ARGIA. At the press conference on Tuesday, the defendants have denounced that they now intend to criminalise the right to fight for disobedience in Catalonia. They are clear that “in this political judgment the citizens want to punish their commitment and their ability to defend themselves and the earth”: “They want us to silence and they will not achieve it”.

In these years of Aroztegi’s struggle, “we have systematically suffered judicial, police and economic harassment,” they added, but they have stressed that on this occasion they have overcome “all the red lines”: “Now it has touched seven people to be part of this circus of bad taste.”

Disobedient camps

In the spring of 2021, the companies Palacio de Arozteguia SL, TEX and QUEIPO SL, which intended to carry out the works, managed to get the citizen movement to leave the place, organizing camps: “The ghost black people of speculation came with their machines, without respecting the laws made expressly for them, and going beyond the decisions of Baztan citizenship and local institutions, to crush our lands. We sent them home.”

“The struggle is not over”

At a press conference, they stressed that this struggle is not yet over and they asked the Government of Navarra to put an end to the PAU in Navarra. They remind him that “the responsibility for returning stolen land to farmers and the Baztan General Board is yours.”
