The Social Home is inspired by the neo-fascist Italian Casa Pound movement: it has occupied empty buildings and offered help to people with economic problems. That is true, it only helps the Spaniards to value their opposition to foreigners.

In recent years, the group has achieved an important impact on social networks and the Spanish media, organising striking activities: In September 2016, they rented a room from the Hotel Palace to criticize the Spanish party system and hung from their balcony the sign “There was once a circus” (once a circus).

The fascist ideology of Hogar Social has strived to hide it under social demands, but it has also been known for the use of violence. Among others, following the jihadist attacks in Barcelona in 2017, there were two attacks against immigrants in Madrid and Granada. For these facts, the Spanish State Prosecutor’s Office initially accused 11 members of the Social Home of a hate crime, but then withdrew the requests for punishment and asked to investigate only the group leader, Melisa Rodríguez.

Like pp, Citizens, Vox, UPN, Falange and Spain 2000, Hogar Social also participated in the February rally in the Plaza del Colón in Madrid in defense of the unity of Spain.

The intention of Hogar Social to run for the elections is yet another sign of the boom that extreme right-wing parties are experiencing in Spain. The new autonomous government, formed by the forces of pp, Citizens and Vox after the Andalusian elections of 2018, has warmed the atmosphere in the elections of April 28 and in the municipal elections of May 26.

The neo-Nazi group has not yet clarified in which 2019 election dates it intends to present, as reported by the Basque Government.
