The events occurred on Sunday night, when a neighbor from the Zaramaga neighborhood called for emergency shots on the street. A patrol of the Ertzaintza moved to Reyes de Navarra Street for a quick response on the spot. These patrols are often mobilized in critical situations.

The agents identified three Ertzainas who were preparing to enter the 28th Ertzaintza promotion at the Arkaute Academy for firing with a gas gun at a lantern they had in the Zaramaga neighborhood. The three identified Ertzainas are now waiting for the Arkaute Academy to impose a fine penalty on them.

Conflictive promotion

The fact that students preparing to become agents of the Ertzaintza shoot in the Zaramaga neighborhood has not been the only surprise of this promotion. The Department of Security has offered 700 places to access the 28 promotion of the Ertzaintza, but after various tests, only 650 have been completed, as the rest of those presented were incapable.

In addition, the Arkaute Academy cannot accommodate all the students who are preparing the Ertzaintza, and many of them have had to be rehoused in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
