Three arrested for chaining against the TAV in the Spanish Government Delegation in Navarre
- On Monday morning, three Mugitu members have climbed the balcony of the building and chained to it. They call for the cessation of all the works of the TAV in Navarre and throughout the Basque Country
The National Police, the Civil Guard, the Municipal Police and the Foral Police have appeared at the headquarters of the Government Delegation to arrest the activists and have explained that the Police has arrested the chained and identified the people who protected the action by the street.
A member of Mugitu made statements to the delegation explaining the reasons for the action. Two sections of the works of the TAV in Navarra are standing, the Olite/Tafalla and Tafalla sections. The Independent Tax Liability Authority (Airef) has recommended the halting of the works, claiming that the economic profitability of the project is at stake. Mugitu has been convinced that the decision is good news, but he has asked at what point is the cutting of the works. In addition, he asked for clarification on what is going to happen to the other two sections of the TAV in Navarre and the Navarro Corridor. With today’s action, Mugitu has called for the definitive end of all these works, as well as all the works of the TAV throughout the Basque Country: “We want the most devastating, wasteful, antisocial, corrupt and antidemocratic project in Euskal Herria to be the past.”

A calcined machine in Elorrio
On Sunday morning a fire broke out in the Iguria district of Elorrio when a machine was being used for the works of the TAV. The fire was suffocated by the firefighters who went to the facility. The Department of Security has reported that it is investigating the event and that all assumptions being considered are open. Denis Itxaso, delegate of the Spanish Government to the CAV, and Biscayan businessman Cebek, have denounced the "aggression" for the investigation into the origin of the fire. The spokesman for the PP and Citizens’ parliamentary group, Carlos Iturgaiz, has accused Bildu of “attack”: “The world of Bildu, instead of condemning, applauds the attack on companies and the loss of development.”
