CAV's Stop Evictions platform dences that the new Mortgage Law can cause "thousands" of evictions in the Basque Country
- Stop Evictions of the CAV has claimed in Donostia-San Sebastian that the regulation of the early extinction of the new Mortgage Law being processed in Congress does not affect the retroactivity of all credits.
The concentration, organized by the CAV Stop Evictions platform on Boulevard Donostiarra, has been supported by representatives of EH Bildu, Podemos, Irabazi, ELA, CCOO and ESK, as well as by seven families in a situation of “social vulnerability”. In it, the members of the platform have denounced that the new Mortgage Law can cause "thousands" of evictions in the State.
Stop Desahucios spokeswoman Gipuzkoa, Rosa García, warned that “the regulation of the early expiration of the new Mortgage Law will allow all mortgages with a delay exceeding nine payments to be reported in court.”
Stop Evictions spokesman Araba, Arturo Val, added that “the retroactivity set out in the new law is a dangerous weapon left in the hands of banks to promote mass evictions.” Val has announced "more" mobilisations to deal with this situation.
The members of the platform have demanded that the Basque political parties represented in the Courts table amendments to the debate on the new law in Congress and vote to repeal the retroactivity law.
