The staff of the school canteens perform an important educational and social function, teaching healthy habits, both in nutrition and in hygiene, and teaching basic values such as respect, with a positive and active attitude towards good coexistence. Therefore, it is evident that the workers of the school canteens are constantly educating the students and, therefore, the students.

In this health crisis, in view of the opening of the centres, they have never contacted us to organize and activate the protocols imposed by the Basque Government. Given that we have an active participation and a proven experience, we cannot allow ourselves to move away from the proper organization of the very important and necessary service that we offer to society.
The situation in Vitoria-Gasteiz is even more complicated, as the dining rooms are not opening up and the 400 workers, mostly women and people in precarious jobs, are still unemployed.
We must not forget that all those who have started work are in a very difficult situation, because the ratios established by the Basque Government for more than 20 years are obsolete; that is why, because we too are part of the school, we are calling for all these improvements to the Basque Government too.
For all these reasons, we claim to be an active part of all the decisions taken at every moment, both at the work and social level, since today the course has been implemented without taking into account the real needs of the entire educational community.
