To celebrate the two-decade anniversary of the Hendaye Football 7 tournament, "special" initiatives will be held on June 14. In Hendaye, the tournament has been used for twenty years to express solidarity and demands for Basque prisoners and fugitives through football.

The organizers point out that "progress" has been made on the issue of prisoners and fugitives, as the dispersal has ended and there are fewer political prisoners in prison, but they recall that dozens of prisoners remain in prison, "far from the hugs of their relatives and friends". They add that "other" needs also arise, "linked to the help of building the lives of ex-prisoners with dignity."

This year’s edition is said to be “special”: "Because we celebrate the anniversary and we will once again have the opportunity to spread the message of solidarity in favor of the Basque prisoners and fugitives". The tournament will take place in Ondarraitz, Hendaye, and will be a full-day festival. As usual, football matches will be the basis, but this year it has been announced that "special initiatives have been organized so that participants and visitors can enjoy the day".

The first matches will start at 08:30, among which a political event will be held; at 13:00 the lunch will begin. "Beyond the competition," they say, "there will be music and a "warm atmosphere." To start the music festival, at 17:00 Zker Elektrotxaranga will cheer up the surroundings of the field. At 20:00 you will be followed by COR and ØDEI, with a concert and at sunset by DJ Uzkülüz, to end the day.

They remember that the festival is not only "to enjoy" the traditional tournament, but also an opportunity to "celebrate the trajectory and maintain the commitment in the future" of twenty years. Therefore, the call to be and register in Hendaye on June 14, "on the way to a Basque Country without Basque prisoners, fugitives and political deportees", has been extended.
