Long-term tourist accommodation shall be allowed to keep them open if, once the state of alarm has been established, persons were housed “provided the necessary infrastructure is available in their rooms”.
The measure was approved by the Government of Sanchez on 19 March and within a week establishments should remain empty. Camping areas and caravan parks should also be closed. The only ones who can go to the establishments are those who are dedicated to the supervision of the building, safety, maintenance, etc.
The Spanish Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, explained that the closure of tourist accommodation is essential, as "the concentration of people increases the risk of contagion".
It is up to the Basque Government and the Government of Navarre to ensure compliance with the measures.
