The comprehensive and participatory programme will be developed between 31 October, today, and 3 November. In Altsasu, the organisations have explained that they will talk about the current situation and the steps to be taken over the coming years. There will be conferences, a demonstration, shows and concerts, among others.
This year’s programme was born with the aim of responding to the obstacles that prevented them from organising last year’s Topagune, in the same place where it was held two years ago. They have stressed the need to join the fight for "a socialist alternative to deal with capitalism, war and austerity". Members of Gazte Koordinadora Sozialista (GKS) and Ikasle Abertzaleak (IA) have explained that the Socialist Meeting has "a clear intention" to contribute in this direction.
The event began this morning with a wide range of conferences: The economic crisis in Europe, the history of the Gazte and Ikasle movement in the Basque Country, the new avenues for Basque literature and the precarious employment of women have been some of the topics discussed. In addition, there will be many leisure and training activities: Sara Zozaya, Eñaut Elorrieta, Ibil Bedi, Desgara, Nakar, J martina, TOC, etc.
Tickets are for sale on the GKS website.
As in the previous edition, there will also be a demonstration this year on Saturday. The mobilisation against war and fascism will take place on 2 November at 17:30 in the afternoon. "We are going to claim that the only guarantee to fight war, fascism and racism is the construction of socialism," said the organizers, according to Gedar.
