A group of parents has praised the work of the Haurreskola educators and has joined in their struggle
- A group of fathers and mothers of the Haurreskola Kattalin de Donostia wanted to underline the “fundamental role” played by the Haurreskolak educators in the development of their sons and daughters. Faced with the strike of the workers of the Haurreskolak Consortium, they have asked the Basque Government to be prepared to negotiate, convinced that "the ultimate objective of this negotiation is to ensure quality care for children".
“We are aware, as parents and as a society, that this educational stage has great importance in the integral development of the child, such as psychomotor, affective and intellectual development, and that each experience of these first years can totally condition their future. For this reason, we consider it essential to protect these spaces and to continue guaranteeing their quality”, says the group of parents.
In these first decisive years, the Haurreskolak are defined as the second house and the refuge, and the educators as essential references. “As parents, we leave our children in their hands and also happy and quiet.”
For all these reasons, “we call on the Haurreskolak Consortium, the Basque Government or the relevant party to demonstrate their willingness to negotiate and dialogue with the Haurreskolak staff, as well as to reach an agreement worthy of both parties.”
This link offers the possibility of adhering to and signing the request. In the same vein, recently another group of fathers and mothers created a group to support the demands of educators in the Haurreskola Iraun of Irun.
A strike at the Haurreskolak Consortium was held on 22, 23 and 24 February. The workers’ requests are as follows: Free admission and integration of the Haurreskolak Consortium in the Department of Education; respect for and compliance with existing agreements; negotiation of the new employment agreement; end of the temporary staff rate, stabilizing jobs; incorporation of the Haurreskolak Consortium in the staffing of Personal Protection Teams carried out by Osakidetza in public education; and increase of the budget.
