PNV leaders call on the Alderdi Eguna to turn the anger into a nationalist vote
- Thousands of people congregated once again in the Alderdi Eguna of the PNV, as is usual on the Foronda Esplanade (Álava), in the shadow of the Spanish general elections.
The general elections on 10 November were the central focus of the interventions of the Jeltzales leaders. Both EBB President Andoni Ortuzar and lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, strongly criticised the inability they had in Madrid to form a government in Spain.
The election campaign was echoed and, after fighting against the disabilities of Madrid, Ortuzar claimed the policy, that the PNV knows how to do that and therefore asked the Jeltzales to vote: “Abstention benefits those who do things wrong, those who have always sent in Madrid.” And he called to harden his anger. “The Abertzale anger has to become an Abertzale vote.”
In his speech, Iñigo Urkullu referred to the good situation of Basque society, highlighting the policy of the PNV in economic, public services or employment matters. It linked the work of the Jeltzales with the Government and linked the institutions of Madrid to lack of government and instability. It also denounced that 40 years after the adoption of the Gernika Statute, not all competences have yet been transferred. However, he pointed out that the route taken was the right one.
Gilles Simeoni, president of the autonomous government of Corsica, was one of the guests of this edition. Also present were the President of the American Christian Democracy, Juan Carlos Latorre, the president of the PDeCAT, David Bonvehí, or the Catalan Christian Democrat Ramón Espadaler.
