The annual campaign of Errigora has been launched since Thursday, with the intention of uniting the primary sector and the use of Euskera in the south of Navarra. They presented it in the Elorri de Segura society, with an oil tasting by the chef of the restaurant Kuko Iker Martínez. In fact, extra virgin olive oil is one of the star products that will spread throughout the Basque Country; five of the sixteen producers participating in Errigora are almazaras. Lots of rice, pasta and preserves are also distributed.
Errigora is "an attempt to consume responsibly and exchange what is produced responsibly", in an auzolan way, through volunteers from more than a hundred peoples. Year after year, the number of consumers is increasing, as 1,500 families started participating in the initiative in 2014, six years later, it is 6,500.
Ibai Sueskun explained that, following the slogan chosen, they are "proud of their modesty, but proud of their humility": "After all, we are proud that our elections will give us another model. To produce otherwise, consuming otherwise." They also stressed that one of the most important tasks of Errigora was to "build bridges" between farmers, processors and consumers in southern Navarre.
All products may be collected with labels in Basque and at the original price of the producer. Requests can also be made online via the website.
The Navarra Federation of Municipalities and Councils was born with the objective of "protecting and promoting their shared interests and local autonomy". A Communication Officer will soon be selected who will have to master Spanish and Basque.
