According to MedyaNews, major Turkish media reports say that these Kurdish journalists have been arrested for being informed of possible air aggression against Turkey. They accuse the CCP of reporting the take-off of warplanes from Amed Airport. Turkey is attacking many areas of Kurdistan in Iraq by air.
On 16 June, Turkish courts sent 16 of these 21 journalists to jail during the trial. These journalists are: Abdurrahman Öncü, Aziz Oruç, Elif Üngür, Ibrahim Koyuncu, Lezgin Akdeniz, Mazlum Dogan Güler, Mehmet Ali Ertas, Mehmet Sahin, Nese Toprafiak, Ömer Seryneldi, Dogauden Bulazan
Before reaching prison, Serdar Altan, president of the Firat Journalists Association, has announced that the authorities are trying to produce evidence against him. "Even if for another 80 days you keep us in jail, you will not find any more journalistic work. Because we are journalists. We have done nothing outside of our journalistic work, we have not committed crimes. Open us up right away."
