The schools of Kristau Eskola and IZEA will hold stops in 10 days

During ten days work stops will be held by staff of the Christian School of the Basque Country and the IZEA centers. Trade unions ELA, LAB, Steilas, CCOO and UGT have called for a strike to call for the renewal of the labour agreement that has expired since December 2021. They also call for the alleviation of the workload, the improvement of the feminized and precarious sectors, the increase in CPI pay and the maintenance of jobs.
9,000 workers have been called on to strike, affecting 130,000 pupils and 215 schools. Trade unions note that 65 per cent of the workforce joined the strike on the first day. Trade unions and employers met on Tuesday. The Christian School has pointed out that the unions will continue the strike, despite some progress: “Unions are again invited to bet on negotiations and not on mobilizations, because this affects the right to education of students in a very negative way and adds even more difficulty to the difficult family reconciliation.”
Manifestations
They have called for numerous mobilisations for the coming days. On Wednesday, the demonstrations in the three Basque capitals took place. On Thursday it will be held in Donostia-San Sebastian, from the Aldapeta María school, and on 23 January they will meet in the Plaza Bilbao of Vitoria-Gasteiz. On the 24th the streets of the three Basque capitals will be occupied: In Donostia-San Sebastian leaves the headquarters of the Christian School, in Bilbao leave the Escorapios of the center and in Vitoria-Gasteiz of San Viator. They will meet in Bilbao on 25 January at the headquarters of the Basque Government. All mobilizations will be at 11:30.
Trade unions will also hold demonstrations on 6, 7, 8, 19 and 20 February.
