There are already fifteen people affected by the coronavirus in the Basque Country
- There are ten people infected in Álava, two in Gipuzkoa, one in Bizkaia and two in Navarra. Although the first contagion in Navarre is in a serious state in the hospital, the rest remain in isolation at home.
At 22:30 p.m. on 3 March, the number of infections worldwide rose to 92,284 due to the epidemic at risk of becoming a pandemic. The earthquake, which has spread to more than 60 countries around the world, has caused 3,085 deaths. It has also reached Euskal Herria, where most of the infections have occurred because of being in another country or because of having contact with someone from that country. However, attempts are still being made to locate the origin of an infection in Gipuzkoa.
On Monday, the CAV authorities announced more precautionary measures against the Covid-19 virus in the euro area. Osakidetza has closed coffee shops in several hospitals, tightened the limits for visiting protected patients (one visit per patient, an access control...) and suspended several scientific congresses to be held at the CAV.

However, in South and Central America the main threat is Dengue, which is experiencing the largest epidemic in history.
A possible pandemic
The Director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyresus, has told the BBC that the epidemic is in danger of becoming a pandemic. However, experts have wanted to clarify that the evolution of the pandemic is a major expansion, which has nothing to do with the high mortality rates.
However, worldwide panic has spread and coronavirus has had a huge impact not only on people’s health, but also on the economies of countries.
