Experts look for the coronavirus drug, and one of the options is chloroquine, which is used to cure malaria. After the good results at the hospital in Marseille, the tests have been carried out in other parts of the world. One of them has been the Brazilian, who has been arrested in Brazil.
It is an experiment involving 81 people who have participated in it. Half of them have been given 450 milligrams of cloquine twice daily for five days. The other half contained a dose of 600 milligrams for ten days. Three days after the experiment began, scientists found that among the patients with higher doses there were people with heart problems. ELEVEN patients died on Day 6. Subsequently, the test has been suspended.
In addition to chloroquine, patients were also given an antibiotic, called aciromycin, which can also cause heart problems.
Brazilian scientific experts have pointed out that the number of people who administer a small dose of chloroquine is insufficient to draw medical conclusions, and that more tests are needed to check whether chloroquine works or not.
Following the advice of China
In early March, the Chinese government recommended the use of chloroquine to cure COVID-19 patients. For patients between 18 and 65 years of age, it was advised to administer two doses of 500 milligrams per day. According to the government, 285 patients with lung cancer were cured with this medicine in Wuhan.
A Brazilian experiment colleague, Marcus Lacerdote, has stated that the dose proposed by China is very high and that this is why they have had to stop the experiment before it occurred. The WHO, for its part, has not pronounced on the validity of chloroquine, although in the light of the results it has indicated that there is a lack of evidence for it to be a medicinal product.
Another was the message that Bolsonaro gave him on April 8: "After hearing what doctors, researchers and heads of state have said, there is a possibility of treating the disease from its initial phase." Donald Trump has also been in favor of doing experiments with chloroquine.
