An investigation by the Palestinian agency UNRWA concludes that the collection of waste generated in the Gaza Strip may take 15 years to arrive. Only for waste collection, without taking into account the time needed for reconstruction. The waste generated in the Israeli bombings poses a death threat to the population of Gaza, according to UNRWA, by the presence inside it of artillery and toxic and noxious “unburdened” substances. The Environment Agency has warned of the massive presence of asbestos in the sand of buildings in Gaza. On the other hand, thousands of Palestinians have died in the lowlands of the homes torn down, which have not yet been identified or included in the official lists.

To make the comparison, in the 2014 attack in Gaza, at least 2.4 million tonnes of waste generated by Israeli bombs was needed. Some 40 million tonnes of waste have been estimated over the last nine months. The United Nations Environment Programme estimates that the genocide launched in October has produced 13 times more waste than the sum of the bombings in Gaza since 2008. Israel has dropped 50,000 bombs, which have not exploded between 2,000 and 3,000, and which have spread throughout the Gaza Strip.

The estimated cost of waste collection is $500 million, according to sources reported by the Department. The cost of reconstructing the gauze is also enormous. Some estimates estimate that it would take between 40 and 50 billion dollars, at least. The UN concluded in May that the reconstruction of houses in Gaza could last until 2040, without taking into account the destruction of the last two months.

According to UN data, the World Health Organization and the Palestinian authorities, essential infrastructure and services in Gaza have been completely destroyed, without guaranteeing the minimum necessary for the lives of its inhabitants. More than half of the houses in Gaza have been shot down by the Zionist bombs and 88 per cent of the schools. 80 per cent of the malls have been bombed and 267 establishments related to the world of religion have been destroyed. The Israeli Army has also been on the verge of hitting most of the hospitals, and 65 per cent of the streets and roads are destroyed, unused. Water supplies have also been hit hard, often leaving water inaccessible for consumption and cleaning. Thousands of people worldwide have denounced this intentional genocide, “the work of those who want to make life impossible in Gaza.”
