Basque ambulance workers have started a 15-day strike
- They are calling for an increase in wages and the equalization of working conditions with the staff of Osakidetza. By 8 January three demonstrations were organized in Araba, Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia.
The ambulance strike at the CAPV continues. After three days of strike in November and December, a 15-day strike will take place between 8 and 21 January. The strike has been called by the unions ELA, LSB-USO, LAB, UGT, CCOO and ESK, and the main demands are the equalization of working conditions with those of Osakidetza staff and the wage increase that will maintain purchasing power.
ELA says that the negotiations are “completely blocked”: “The employers have offered a proposal far removed from union demands, despite the fact that the Emergency Health Transport (SMI) contract has included 30% more budget and another 24% more than unnecessary (currently in progress).” He complains that the Department of Health has not yet convened a meeting: “On the contrary, meetings have been held with the Department of Labour, but at the moment no progress has been made.” Moreover, LSB-USO recalls that the agreement has been “unupdated” since 2021.
ELA welcomes the first day of strike and notes that the monitoring is being 90%.
Manifestations
Organization of concentrations on January 8 in the Hospital Santiago de Álava, Hospital Cruces de Bizkaia and Hospital Donostia de Gipuzkoa. It will meet from 11:00 to 12:00 hours.
In the case of Bilbao, in addition to the demonstration on 8 January, three more have been convened: 12, 15 and 18 January. It will be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz on the 15th.
