The confinement will last until at least 11 May in Iparralde and, in general, in the French State. In his speech of 13 April, French President Emmanuel Macron stressed the need to continue in the fight against the plague, after the containment that has been in place since 9 March has borne fruit. It recognizes that it does not know when the definitive generalized end of confinement will occur: "We still have to live several months with the virus."
From 11 May onwards, nurseries and first- and second-year centres will be reopened. The French Government has taken this decision to deal with the non-conformities that exist among children, such as, for example, that not all children have received the same assistance and numerical material from their parents. As far as universities are concerned, they will not be reopened until the summer.
As for materials to protect against coronavirus, the French president has acknowledged that there have been “mistakes and shortcomings”. In any event, he has announced that the offer of the Bizkaina Basketball Federation will be secured in the coming weeks. For example, from 11 May, in collaboration with the houses of the people, it has committed itself to mask all the citizens. He has also said that the offer is being made because mandates have been given and they have directed French companies towards the production of masks, which in the coming days will be multiplied by five in the French State.
As for the tests, in the coming days, priority will be given to the elderly, the health staff and the most vulnerable, and, as of 11 May, it will be possible to carry out all people with symptoms. Although it has specified that measures are needed to channel visits to patients who live at the end of their lives, whether in hospitals or in nursing homes, it has not provided any solution or proposal.
He also referred to monitoring and numerical control. Macron wants this to be done anonymously and with the consent of the person. In this way, a path of social control is opened and until 11 May, an assembly is planned to reflect and decide on this issue.
Culture will have to wait. In fact, there will be no festival at least until mid-July. On the other hand, cinemas, museums and concerts will not open their doors on 11 May. The same is true for bars and restaurants.
Despite the lockdown, he has thanked the progress of the economy, underlining the desire to remain so. With regard to companies in difficulty, he said that the aid already under way, such as partial unemployment, which is already under way will continue.
As a final word, look to the future: "You have to reinvent yourself, and I'm the first." He has underlined the need to invent a new social project, saying that in the coming weeks there will be an attempt to draw something with the social partners.
