Just a month ago, Radical Feminist of Euskal Herria launched a manifesto against the draft LAW FOR REAL AND EFFECTIVE EQUALITY OF TRANS PEOPLE, deliberately filtered by Podemos.
The press barely made our position known, and social media became angry. The powders rose. We have received a great deal of criticism, but also a great deal of support.
First of all, we are surprised that the majority of society is unaware of the consequences of this law. It is not that we have a crystal ball to guess the future, these kinds of laws are being applied in the autonomous communities and in other countries, where the negative consequences of laws to drive gender self-determination advocated by queer theory are already in sight.
Feminists around the world have been warning of this danger for a long time, but our voices are accusing of transphobia. Now everything is transphobia, to silence critical voices. The most frequent insult to women who clearly express their opinion is the acronym TERF, trans-exclusionary and radical feminist. A new discourse of hatred of women for defending our hands and those of children.
The risks of this law affect children, as children can now opt for a physical transition, through hormones and surgery, mutilation of healthy bodies, without the consent of their parents or legal guardians. That is, to make a tattoo or piercing, they must have the permission of parents or guardians, but not to be medicalized throughout life, since puberty blockers prescribe their side effects in the medium or long term as if they were sweet, without the consent of the family, besides that these drugs can be freely purchased on the Internet. If parents oppose these treatments, they may lose custody, or as has happened in Canada, a father is in prison for opposing the medication of his 14-year-old daughter.
On February 23, DOFEMCO and the Confuence of the Feminist Movement offered a press conference to publicize the impact that these laws applied in various autonomous communities have on the classrooms. We should not only look at what happens in the countries where these laws are enforced, which we also have at home. As we look at transphobia, indoctrination in schools through generism is being very damaging.
We are warning that these postmodern ideologies are vindicated by lobbys led by men with clinics and pharmaceutical industries specialized in transsexuality.
At this stage, all the alarms about these kinds of laws should be turned on, given the way they defend transactivism and those calling for this law. Since we've opposed this draft, we've been blacklisted, insulted, threatened with violence, censorship and harassment on social media. This comes from institutional feminism, from the councillors of the political parties and from this new civic tribe called queer. We have to endure unjust violence in the face of the demand for a serious debate on these kinds of laws, while the majority are standing aside.
Four political parties have announced that this week they will register the draft at the Madrid Congress, in which we trust in the sense of reason, and we believe that the law will not go ahead, because it is enormously damaging. We still call on political parties and social partners to have a public and sincere debate on these laws that affect children and transgender people, 52% of the population ...
