In the world of bertso, but also outside the world of bertso, was known Gregorio Larrañaga Mandiola, nicknamed Mañukorta. Born in 1943, he started singing in the 1960s and at two decades became popular in the world of Bertso. At the 1989 General Championship, he was on the verge of the final.
In 2014, Xabier Amuriza collected the biography and passages of Mañukorta in the book Mañukorta bertsonaje. In it he described the bertsolari of Markina-Xemein: "The bertsolaris of Mañukorta's thought have never been on the bertsos circuit. Nor, in general, in the human circuit (...) It is difficult to find anywhere that has greater confidence in itself. Besides the verse, Mañukorta is convinced that he has been touched by the best world. And the best place in the world."
