Body builders start a digital strike
- The digital strike has begun with two days of strike between the body builders. Several websites have announced that they will not open new content on 20 and 21 April.
How has the strike of culture enthusiasts started on the morning of 21 April? We have made this small tour through several sites that work the culture and here are some of the websites that are on strike:
The websites Bertsozale, Bertsoeskola and Bertsoa have completely closed the website, and the only thing you can see is the image that has become a symbol of the strike. There is no possibility to see any content related to bertsos.
The Dantzan website has not renewed its content and disseminated the following message: "By participating in the cultural blackout, on 21 and 22 April we will not post any content.
The web Hitzen Uberan, linked to the Association of Basque Writers, has in the first line the following note: "The members of the editorial board of Hitzen Uberaneko join the call for a strike by the Basque bodybuilders, so tomorrow and the past we will not publish new content on this portal".
The Armiarma portal of the editorial Susa, for its part, has announced that it will not renew contents in the next two days.
The website of the Basque Country Theatre Association also shows the following note: “In line with the digital strike, all EHAZE’s digital resources will remain silent (Twitter, Facebook, newsletters, website),” he added.
Coinciding with the strike of the cultural workers, in ARGIA we will have closed the Multimedia channel during these two days.
Almost a thousand people and agents have joined the call
On the morning of 21 April, 959 people joined the call for a strike. The objectives of the strike are to generate a social debate, to demand urgent measures and to start organising a meeting point for the Basque cultural ecosystem.
As they denounced in the document, "we have called on public institutions to deal with the crisis generated by this extraordinary emergency situation. Apart from some municipalities, the rest have rejected our proposal. The Basque Government, for example, has responded that it will not take any action to respond to the differential characteristics of cultural activity. It's time to change the paradigm, it's time to change the model, it's time to change the pattern."
They have valued cultural initiatives and raised a number of questions to the public: "These days we are seeing in the networks the importance of these works, which are becoming a relief for the containment of citizenship. But what happens at the end of the lockdown? How do we reorganize our cultural activity? Will the responsible political parties in the public institutions continue to be outside the ecosystem of culture or will they sit next to us at the technical table of urgency and at the permanent meeting point that we are proposing for us to decide between all and all what is strategic for Basque culture and what measures should we take to achieve these strategic objectives?
