On the "event" of 11 June, GHK denied that there was an explosion in the transformer, and assured that it was a "short circuit". GHK President and Environment Deputy José Ignacio Asensio has accused the GuraSOS platform of acting "irresponsibly" and "disinforming" citizens to create "social alarm".

The GHK group recalled in a statement that "the GHK has always informed all the competent institutions of all the incidents that occurred at the energy recovery plant of the Gipuzkoa Environmental Complex (PVE)".
The President of the GHK and Environment Deputy José Ignacio Asensio has stated that "once again, GuraSOS once again committed a serious irresponsibility by disinforming citizens for the sole purpose of creating social alarm". In this sense, "the Waste Consortium of Gipuzkoa has insisted that it has always acted with the utmost diligence and transparency, as can be seen through all the information sent to the Assembly of the Consortium, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Basque Government and the different institutions".
GHK pointed out that "all the appeals and complaints lodged by GuraSOS have always been dismissed". According to the GHK, on 11 June there was never an explosion of the transformer, "but it was an incident that occurred in the complex's shrinkage operations, causing a short circuit".
