Councillor Arriola will analyse the status of promotions of some official housing in Gipuzkoa

The Aloku, Azora Tenants and Stop Evictions groups will ask the housing counselor, Iñaki Arriola, to analyze the situation of some official housing promotions. In a hearing at the Basque Government’s headquarters in Andía Street on Saturday, you will be asked in a letter analysing the situation of some official housing developments in Gipuzkoa.
“We will jointly denounce the practices and manoeuvres of these vulture funds when renewing contracts in order not to apply the current ILP; we will demand the maintenance of social rents at the end of the protection period; we will denounce the increases in income and abusive sales that are expected at the end of these periods; and we will demand the application and development of the Basque Housing Law on key issues,” they explained.
Situation of Bentaberri families
This week, Bentaberri’s rental platform has reported that the neighborhood’s neighbors residing in official shelters have received a letter signed by the putre-4,000 Blackstone fund and by UTE Benta Berri. The letter states that those who soon conclude their contract have been extended for six months, an extension which it has called "extraordinary" and which will "automatically end" at the end of it. However, according to the platform, these contracts should automatically be renewed to payers, to those who already have accounts up to date and to those who are not conflicting, among others.
Faced with this situation, several neighbors contacted the institutions, who told them that it would be “a mistake” and that “they could benefit from the previous contract”. However, this has not been taken up in writing. Having seen what happened, Aloku BB wanted to denounce the "abuse situation" that has been experienced in the area.
